It amazes me how these male birds do so much to get the attention of the rather bland females. Very interesting. The flaunting of the bold colors, the show..Seems backwards with humans.

I agree. It's the opposite for humans. I was thinking today of some of the reasons it's bad to be a guy:

We rarely are the best looking, or even worth looking at at all (what I mean is, guys call many more girls hot than girls do for guys)
We have the stereotype of a lazy horny pig
Maybe its the opposite for birds. There are other male birds who are beautiful too right?
In the end it's the same though. The women chose the men, and the men have to gain the attention and persuade the woman to be with them. Lame?
I'm glad we don't fit that mold.
